This brings back memories of when my son was in elementary school and we went on a field trip to the museum and we SPENT THE NIGHT THERE! The museum was FULL of kids and teachers and parents. Whatever you do, DON'T try this. It was too much of a good thing. I am still traumatized by it years later!!

I'm chaperoning my kids' field trip to the MN Zoo later this month. So now I know what I've got to look forward to. :-/

Great read, OB. You bring back memories but from the other point of view. Boy, how we loved our teachers (ah ha) on those science field trips to catch minnows in Sandy Hook!

Oh man, does that ever bring back memories.

I used to be the kid that would run off.....

Ptelea -- scares me just to think about it!

Pete -- ha....hahahha! Actually, the zoo may not be so bad since it's outside...the sound has a place to go besides into your head. :-]

Alberto -- the kids were thrilled and had a ball...I was ready for the sensory deprivation tank!

George -- then you're the kid I'd have put with my most challenging parent! :-]

Back in the motherland while I was still in college I was a subsitute teacher (yes, in Hawaii you did NOT need a college degree to be a sub).

Guess what days I got called in for most often???

That's right - FIELD TRIP!!!!

I used to teach at an environmental learning center, where it was ALWAYS field trip day because, well, we were a field trip destination. It was great, but every Friday night I would sleep for 14 hours straight...
