And that night The Sweetie says to me, he says I'm thinking of driving to that one Park-and-Ride lot and commuting from there...it would cut my 19-miler to 12.
And I think to myself, I think there are a couple Park-and-Ride lots on MY commute! even though buses don't actually go that direction when I need to be going that direction. So I scope-out the Metro Transit site. I can cut my 12-miler to an eight-miler or even to a four-miler...
...a four-miler...I wonder to myself, I wonder How long does a four-miler take when I really need to get somewhere?
So the next morning I haul the ride outta the trunk and commence to commuting four miles.
I pedal.
I pedal.
I ped- I’m there?!
therehere? that was IT?
THAT'S ALL THERE IS?!!
So the bike and I stand outside the front door of the building and I think to myself, I think HUH.
So I could DO this year-round...even on those days when I need to get to classes after work but I'd have to buy those studded Nokians!
-OB because then I'd be a stud

Did they actually mean park and ride.
or did they mean just ride.
You might not need the studded Klingons. Get use to people calling you "crazy" for riding year 'round.
Shawn -- hey, I'm just doing what the sign said....
snakebite -- with weather like we've been having there's a good chance I won't. Thurs. when I did the massive 4-miler the roads had some black ice though...if our weather pattern continues that could be more of a problem than just having snow like we're supposed to!
I think for the general public they mean park and 'get a ride', but I too use them for our 2 wheeled purpose often; when used in conjunction I call it a 'combo commute'. Not sure if made that term up or not, but you can credit me if desired. I get credit for 'NorCal biker geek nirvana' and 'Flandosterone'.
I definitely want studded tires. I am going to have to move to the snow though.
Don't give in.
Dr. X -- combo-commute. I like it!
Shawn -- I think I'm just looking for a reason to buy them.
Please buy them, so I can live vicariously through you.
I'll let you know when I bring them home....
