My Fault

Last Thursday saw record high temps across the upper midwest. One area of MN recorded a 60 degree day, one of only ten 60 degree January days to be had in the last 120 years...one day out of a possible 3,720 January days to hit 60 degrees. Our chance of a 60 degree day in January is...well, it’s infinitesible. But that's the winter we're having.

And, hitting the mark this year is my fault...our fault.

Last February, we test rode fat bikes over piles of snow on the playground of the neighborhood school. I told Wheel, “If we do this, we’ll have the first brown winter in six years.” But, he was having none of that argument, and we put down our money.

In April we got our Fatbacks...

...that have seen 2” of snow...

...over the span of one afternoon.

Over the past eight months, we’ve had them out on bare trails, sand, gravel, singletrack, rail lines and a few fire roads. The bikes are a hoot. But I knew it would happen: we’d get snow bikes and then all of us would face down the brownest winter in a decade.

I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't make a big deal about it. We feel bad enough.

I gotta call a big B.S. on this one!!! ;)
Do you think you two are the only ones to jump on the FatBike wagon in the last year??!!

You guys have a bunch of other new FatBike owners to share the blame with you!!!! Ha Ha Ha ;)

Another thing, if they don't shoulder their part of the blame, may they be plagued by flat fat tires for evermore!!

It's Mn., you know we'll get hit with some kind of snow event!!! Think state high school hockey tourney dumping of a foot or more. And you know it'll get cold.

Peace

I don't think I would pack the towel in on the blown winter just yet. Who knows, we may still have snow in May. Hope not!

Since you're admitting fault, then I suppose you're buying the beer.

AND, we've gotta buy the beer! Criminy!

Hey, what's with this we stuff?

I'm not so ready to fall on my sword over this one much less sign up for buying the beer but I'll be happy to ride over to Firkins with you when you are ready to do YOUR beer run...

If a FatBike can guarantee a snow free winter, I'm going shopping right now!

Ahem - you remember the whining about the 17 degrees and me promising to share some of our 41.5 degrees (Celsius this is) we had here on Xmas day...? Looks like I managed to send some your way because our temps dropped to a bearable low 30ies Celsius. :-) Blame me! Or you whining! But not the fatties! ;)

Those bikes look as though they'd put up with anything you throw at them. However, one must realize that global warming is changing all the rules. Go ride. Enjoy and savor every moment.

Maybe next year you can buy snowmobiles...

Pete, there's only so much budget!

Ah Groover, THAT's what is is!

Those fat tires are good in sand, too. I've been riding my fat bike along the river and enjoying the snow free winter and the sandy trails along the Minnesota. I'd be happy to have you join me some time...

Hey Snak -- we'll take you up on that!

Between you and me, I don't mind the lack of snow!
