Close to Home

We got out for a nice, long ride outta town on Friday: sixty-some-odd miles into and out of the Minnesota River Valley, across farm fields, wasn't too toasty, plenty-o-green countryside...coffee/lunch stop...good company. What a day.

On Saturday, we rode a ding-around pace from home to the Mpls Farmers' Market for some locally-made brats and caramel rolls...people-watching, music, food. Can't beat it!

Saturday evening we rode about a mile from home to see some poppers.

We feel pretty fortunate living where we do. The metro area is fairly bicycle-friendly, and we're in a good spot to ride urban or countryside.

I love Minnesota in the summer.

Sounds like biking fun...and I like people watching too.

Yes, it was a sweet weekend! Living in the center of an acceptable universe is quite a big notch above OK.

I think some of the people on Saturday were locally made as well...

I love Minneapolis, except for winter. I got to spend a couple weeks there a few years back, and would ride the trail by the river for hours. Then on the weekends I would veer off the trail and ride around downtown. I gotta do that again.

Is it like: 20 minutes ride to downtown sophistication and 20 minutes ride to paddocks with horses and cows on it? If that's what it is then it's cycling paradise indeed. :-) What about the SUV drivers? Are they polite, too?

Well said, Wheel! "A big notch above OK". OB, when I read your post I was reminded of all the grousing I do about the place I live. There's beauty to be found nearby, but for the day-to-day, it's unacceptable in most every way except for the m-o-n-e-y. I feel like a hooker. How charming that you love the place you're in!
